ALAN LEE - 10 Kyu (White Belt)

Alan joined Karate with two of his daughters.  While their daughters are enjoying the training, Alan also worked very hard and put efforts into the training.

In fact, Alan is a talented student. He made the training as a good habits.  Surely he is one of the important asset to our Oval dojo.

STACEY KOK - 7 Kyu (Purple Belt)

For the month of March, Stacey Kok has been voted as our Star of the Month.

Stacey grew up from our Kid's Class at a young age. In the recent years, she has joined the adult class in training but she still continues to attend the Kid's Class to act as a Senpai and take care of the youth in the class when in need.

In many occasions, the Sensei(s) have noticed that she takes initiative in helping others and we hope that she continues to spread her positive energy around to others.

RICK SUTTON - 7 Kyu (Purple Belt)

For the month of February, we have Rick Sutton who won our Star of the Month nomination.  His peers in class acknowledge his driven attitude in participating in class fully and his ability to overcome each and every challenge placed before him.

Congratulations Rick and we hope you continue to work hard and inspire others around you.​

WALLACE NG - 9 Kyu (Purple Belt)

Congratulations Wallace for being our Star of December. His classmates all praised him for his hard work and dedication in class. His attendance is superb and his efforts are visible by the amount of sweat on the floor near every single day. 

The Instructor Team hopes he continues to work hard in class and influence the other students around him with his energy. 

JEFFREY YU - Shodan (Blackbelt)

Jeffrey has joined Shoseikan Canada in 2007.  We are so glad to see his improvement and hard working. Jeffrey also helped in the kid class and Oval dojo, beside his training and busy school work.

Without any doubt, Jeffrey is one of the great asset of Shoseikan Canada. We are proudly announced to grant the Star of November 2015 for his efforts.   

LIAM JACKSON - 9 Kyu (Purple Belt)

It has been a successful start of a new Karate Year at Shoseikan Canada. We are glad to promote our Star of the Month award again in this year. 

For our first star of the month in the 2015 - 2016 Karate Year, we have Liam!! The following are the collection of comments that his peers had to say about him: Liam was very hard working, very focused in class, and had large improvements in both his Dachi and Kihon. 

The instructors acknowledges his improvements and hopes he would continue his training and karate spirit to achieve a higher level.​

LIAM JACKSON - 9 Kyu (Purple Belt)

Liam has been a progressively improved since he joined Shoseikan Karate in spring of this year.

He has worked hard on improving his basic and Kata. He is also a strong team player and is so friendly to other students. He spent extra time attending Vancouver dojo for extra training, but still very active at Richmond Oval dojo.

We are fortunate to have him as a part of Shoseikan Karate. We are glad to nominate him as Star of May (2015).

ZOEY VELASCO - 7 Kyu (Purple Belt)

In our many years of teaching Karate, we have been fortunate to work with many talented students-- kids who displayed their expertise in many different areas. For sure, Zoey is one of them.

Zoey joined Shoseikan when he was 4 years old. Simply put, he practices very hard. His motivation and effort shows better than his age. He respects and friendly.

For this reason, he was chosen to be the Star of April 2015. Congratulation, Zoey!

ANDREW CHAN - NIDAN (Blackbelt 2nd Dan)

Andrew Sensei began his Karate training when he's in high school in Hong Kong. He stopped because of the job and busy life style in Hong Kong. After moving to Vancouver, he joined Shoseikan to restart his Karate career in 2006.

With the age of 50 and a empty period in Karate, surely it is a challenge for Andrew to pickup his Karate again in a short period of time. However, with his insistence and his strong urge in Karate, currently he's holding a Nidan certificate.

Andrew Sensei's success tells us that there is no limitation of ages for Karate training. 

Congratulation to Andrew Sensei who is elected to be the Star of March 2015.
