Dear Parents and fellow Karatedo-ka,
As you should know, BC has launched a new order from the provincial health officer will require individuals to provide proof of vaccination to access a broad range of social, recreational, and discretionary events and businesses throughout the province. As of Sept. 13, one dose of vaccine will be required for entry to these settings. By Oct. 24, entry to these settings will require people to be fully vaccinated at least seven days after receiving both doses. To enter both our Dojo (Vancouver and Richmond Oval), people aged 12 and older will be required to show their proof of vaccination. At this stage, we are not sure how exactly it works, but we will learn from it. VANCOUVER DOJO

Dear parents and fellow Karatedo-ka, First of all, I would like to thank you for your supports and even under the circumstances of this pandemic, our last year term has accomplished and the online AGM was very success. After the discussion with instructors and receiving some feedback from parents, we are still not sure when to restart the dojo training. As an alternative plan, we will continue our training online by using the Zoom app until we have a better picture of the pandemic. The online classes schedule starting on September 2nd will be as following: Kid Class (ages 4-7): Thursday, 6:15pm to 7:00pm Saturday, 10:00pm to 10:45pm Regular Class (ages 8 and up): Wednesday, 7:15pm to 8:00pm Friday, 7:15pm to 8:00pm We will have a special promotion test arrangement for kid class members. Details will be forwarded to the parents soon. We also have plan for the regular class members and that will probably a small group promotion test at the main dojo. Please stay tune and we will announce it when we confirmed. Please note, the zoom classes attendance will count as a requirement for the next promotion test. Again, I want to welcome all of you back to our training and thank you for being a part of Shoseikan Karate. We are truly on the path to greatness and Karate-do. Regards, Shihan, Henry Chan Chief Instructor 2020 was a tough time for everyone in the world. Because of the pandemic, we are forced to stay home and keep away from a distance to our friends and family. Thanks to the technology, we can still get connected somehow in front of a screen. We are appreciative for that.
Our first-ever Online AGM was hosted on August 7, 2020 at 8pm (PST). We are very honor to have our Chief Master, Ishihara Kancho and the Executive Director of NPO (NIPPON BUDO SHINKOKAI), which is the Martial Arts Promotion Association in Japan, joining us for event. Our AGM started with the Introduction and Speech from Shibucho, Henry Shihan. Following up with the Kata demonstration and the award presentation. Here are some highlights photos of the day. Our goal at Shoseikan is to guide and assist our members to achieve fitness, condident, values of respect, harmony, discipline and responsibility, and strive for the perfection of character, under traditional Japan Goju-Ryu training environment. My vision, as the Chief Instructor, is to always put our members into the first position. My belief is that all members can learn, practice and enjoy the Karate training. I hope that all our members could fulfill and achieve their dream in our training environment that is positive, safe, caring, as well as a fun place to learn and grow. Let's work together and make another success of year 2019-2020. Regards, Shihan, Henry Chan - Chief Instructor Dear fellow karatedo-ka, parents and friends,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome your return to the 2017-2018 year of Shoseikan Canada – Goju Ryu Karate. There are many reasons to train in Karate (or any form of martial art). Of course, self-defense would be one of the big ones. However, being a Karatedo-ka, we should focus on the principles, training procedures, friendship and being respectful. Karatedo is a lifelong journey in perfecting your personal character and creating harmony. The true Karate spirit is being strong to face any difficulty and hard times that come at you. Karate’s training may be difficult. However, when you overcome it, you will enjoy it. Let's work hard together and have another successful year. Your truly, Henry Chan Chief Instructor of Shoseikan Canada (Western division) |
